UMail Web Access
You can access your UMail from anywhere using a web browser and the Internet. This online version of UMail gives you access to email, scheduling and contacts. You can drag-and-drop, use pop-up menus, toolbars, and out-of-office settings. You can double-click to create appointments and meetings, view meeting reminders in pop-up windows, search your mailbox, and view and edit distribution lists stored in your contacts folder. Online access also features new email alerts and meeting reminders.
Using Internet Explorer, the online version of UMail functions much like a standard version of Outlook. Browsers other than Internet Explorer 6.0 and above may not provide all the features, options and functionality of OWA. (See Web Browser Comparisons.)
Accessing UMail Through The Web
You will need to enable session-based cookies in order to use UMail online. These cookies are not stored on your PC and are used to enforce secure logoff and session idle timeout. It does not store your personal data.
To log into your Outlook account through the Web:
- Launch your web browser (Internet Explorer is preferred).
- Go to:https://www.umail.utah.edu.
- Enter your uNID in the User Name box type.
- Enter your uNID password In the Password box
- Click Log On or press Enter.
NOTE: When you are finished using your UMail account online, click the Log Off button on the toolbar. Logging off helps prevent someone else from using the computer to access your mailbox. This is especially important if you are using a public computer.

Known Issues
If the session times out, unsaved content is not retained. If it takes a user over 40 minutes (the public setting session time period) to compose an email on a "public" computer, they will lose everything that they have typed when they click Send. If the user has clicked the "Save" icon (indicated by the floppy disk image) during those 40 minutes, the message will be in the Drafts folder up to the save point. Clicking the Save icon may reset the session time data.
