He also has significant experience in team building and working collaboratively across institutions to meet education outcomes,” Thomas said. “We are so lucky that Micah is joining our TLT team.”

In his new role, Murdock will support all areas of the course management lifecycle, including ideating, designing, building, supporting, and updating course/program offerings and supporting services; nourish relationships with online course development teams at in-state schools and partner organizations across the nation; work with vendors to promote collaborative solutions that prioritize engagement and student-centered online learning; take part in strategic discussions on university initiatives; influence how department services can be adapted to meet online learning goals; direct the work of the exam center; direct the work of the learning design team; and create, manage, and update annual budgets.

Murdock brings more than 16 years of experience in educational technology, including the creation and design of online, blended, and classroom courses.

As the online curriculum designer for BYU-Idaho, Murdock collaborated with faculty and online instructors to create pedagogically-driven learning experiences for students, managed a portfolio of 12 online courses, and conducted trainings on Canvas for the department. Prior to that, Murdock worked for Instructure, where he consulted with subject matter experts and institutional administrators to design and deliver effective learning experiences for students of all ages around the world. He also hired and managed a team of 12 trainers and 25 contractors to help new customers learn and engage with Canvas and Bridge LMS platforms. In addition, he has served as an online instruction manager at BYU-Idaho and the director of admissions at the University of the Rockies.

Murdock holds a master’s degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University and an educational specialist degree in Instructional Technology & Learning Science from Utah State University.
