What kind of software do I need to use the campus VPN?
To use the campus VPN service, you need a VPN software client installed on your computer and a University Network ID (uNID) and corresponding password. If you have questions about your uNID or your password, call the Campus Help Desk at 1-4000.
We recommend downloading the latest client versions from our site. The VPN client software is available for the following operating systems:
Older versions of VPN clients can be chosen "at-a-glance" from the VPN grid.
UIT no longer supports VPN clients for Windows 98 or earlier and Mac OS 9 or earlier. However the clients are available; contact the Campus Help Desk at 581-4000, option 1.
I have downloaded and extracted the VPN client, but I can't figure out what to do to use the program.
Once the file is extracted, you should see a new folder called 4.0 VPN and PCF, inside this folder you should see a Setup.exe file, run that. Once the installer is done and you have rebooted your machine you should see Cisco System VPN client in the program files. Click on VPN client and it will bring up a small dialog box, just click on the connect at the upper left hand corner of this box.
