Lassonde helps launch hundreds of startups

What do these innovative products have in common? They all originated at the U’s Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, an interdisciplinary division of the David Eccles School of Business.
Lassonde has helped U students launch hundreds of new startups. Learn more about their stories.

Isaac Sesi is a graduate of the Master of Business Creation program at the U and founder of Sesi Technologies, a Ghana, Africa-based agritech company that provides affordable technology solutions to African farmers.

A team of former U students developed Bruxit, a solution to prevent the symptoms of bruxism and train people to stop grinding their teeth. The interdisciplinary team behind the device consists of Travis Neuberger, bioengineering Ph.D. student; David Williams, an MBA student at Stanford with a master’s in bioengineering from the U; William Eccles, an MBA student at the U with a master’s in bioengineering; Parker Ence, an MBA student at Stanford; and faculty advisor John Langell, a surgeon and director of the U’s Center for Medical Innovation.

Nick Witham, pictured at left, is a former biomedical engineering Ph.D. student at the U and founder of GAIA Technologies, whose mission is to improve lives through better prosthetics.

Former U bioengineering student Brody King developed a robotic lighting system for the operating room.

William Pepper, who studied computer science at the U, is the creator of Parq, an app that allows home and business owners to rent their parking spots.

Justin Rae, a former student in the new Master of Business Creation program, founded Cinch in 2017. The company is an online, data science and marketing automation platform that helps businesses build a better relationship with consumers.

Sasha Singh is majoring in computer science major and minoring in entrepreneurship and psychology at the U. Singh is developing a health and fitness app called “Life.”

Doxy.me is an online platform created by Brandon Welch, a former Ph.D. student in biomedical infographics, that allows doctors to visit with their patients online through video calls for free.


To ease the workload of engineers, Trevor Newsom, a former engineering student at the U, founded Gearhold Technologies, which is designed to improve computer-aided design (CAD) services.

Master of Business Creation program graduates Viral Shah and Dhaval Chokshi are empowering hoteliers with their startup HelloGM, which provides a single interface to access data from disparate property management systems.

Taylor Buckley is a Master of Business Creation program graduate and founder of My School Dance, a high school dance-related online event management platform.

Ukraine native and MBA graduate Vitaliy Mahidov launched a Wi-Fi audio company, CloviTek.
