Software savings make life at the U more affordable

We get it — being part of the U community is an honor, but it often involves related expenses. Good news ... UIT’s Office of Software Licensing has negotiated campus agreements with top software vendors to provide students, faculty, and staff access to certain products for free or a reduced price.

UIT to roll out enhanced Microsoft Teams platform

All University of Utah faculty, staff, and students and University of Utah Health personnel will be moved to an upgraded version of Microsoft Teams in March. Microsoft will retire the “classic” version of Teams on March 31, 2024.

Microsoft Copilot, a generative artificial intelligence chat platform, is currently available at no cost to University of Utah and University of Utah Health staff and faculty. Students in degree-granting programs will have access beginning in February 2024.

University-wide Microsoft Teams migration begins this month

Starting this week, UIT will begin the university-wide migration of Skype for Business chat and collaboration and voice accounts to Microsoft Teams. UIT’s Account Executives will work directly with departments that depend on Skype for Business for voice services and conference rooms.
