Jon Thomas named director for TLT
UIT is pleased to announce that after a national search, Jon Thomas has been appointed to serve as the director of the University’s Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) unit, effective immediately. In this position, Jon reports jointly to the Office of Undergraduate Studies and University Information Technology (UIT) and is a member of the UIT and Academic Affairs leadership teams. Jon’s responsibilities include managing more than fifty TLT staff members and student employees; audiovisual projection systems in more than 200 campus classrooms; the Canvas, Kaltura and Equella teaching technology core platforms; and online course development, media production and course operations services. In this capacity, Jon will continue to work closely with the Teaching & Learning Portfolio within the campus IT governance framework.
Jon has worked as Interim Director and Associate Director of Course Support in TLT since 2011 and previously worked at USU, enPraxis/COSL, and Walmart corporate headquarters as a software developer. He earned a B.S. degree in business management from Brigham Young University and an M.S. degree from Utah State University in instructional technology and learning services. He currently is in the dissertation stage of the doctoral program in instructional technology and learning sciences at USU.
