University of Utah password requirements

Passwords must be at least 14 characters. There is no maximum character limit.
- While the U requires a minimum password length of 14 characters, increasing your password by even a single character makes it 93 times harder for a criminal to crack.
New passwords cannot match the previous five (5) passwords.
Passwords must contain all four of the following elements:
- A number
- A symbol ($, &, @, %, _, *)
- An UPPERCASE letter
- A lowercase letter
Passwords cannot contain slashes ("/" or "\").
New passwords cannot match compromised passwords in the PWNED database.
The Information Security Office (ISO) recommends that users change their passwords periodically. Some users may be prompted to choose a new password depending on IT security findings.
