IT Enterprise Architecture

UIT's Enterprise Architecture team collaborates with the broader IT community to ensure that solutions align with The University of Utah's strategic plan, University of Utah Health initiatives, departmental goals, and IT strategies. The team uses proven architectural frameworks that organize principles, processes, and people to define standards and assist in IT alignment.

Services include:

  • Enterprise architecture reviews

Enterprise architecture reviews support the development, enhancement, and/or acquisition of an IT solution to ensure that its implementation concept aligns with the university’s enterprise IT architecture. Upon request, the Enterprise Architecture team schedules meetings with university organizations to complete an assessment and, if necessary, submit it to the U's Architecture and New Technology Committee (ANTC) for review. To request an enterprise architecture review, please visit the IT Service Catalog (authentication is required).

  • Community of practice (CoP)

The Enterprise Architecture team facilitates the university's Network Architecture CoP, which is made up of individuals who commit a significant part of their professional time engaged in specific architectural domains. The CoP provides recommendations on network technology architecture opportunities, initiatives, and issues, and is responsible for recommending policy surrounding both network implementations and core services enabling the network, such as Internet Protocol (IP) address management.
