Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Thanks to Dusty Argyle, a USS QA student intern, for his hard work and establishing the QA automation test foundation using the Ruby/Watir programming language. Dusty is pleasant to work with, and though he is still young in his college career, he has displayed skills and abilities of a much more seasoned technician. ~ Dan Thornley

Ron Muncey did great work on implementation of u.select (web-based course transfer system). This system went to production on March 27 to enable students, advisers, faculty, and administrators from colleges and universities to obtain consistent and accurate information about how courses will transfer from one institution to another. It also tells them how those courses will apply to meet academic program requirements at the other institutions. ~ Pat Burton

I’d like to recognize the network team. They’ve done an incredible amount of work in support of the PCI project while “keeping the lights on” and pressing other projects along. The entire team has contributed enormous work. I’d especially like to recognize Brent Elieson, Ray Carsey and Ken Kizer for do so much heavy lifting on not just implementing requirement controls, but producing very detailed documentation and audit evidence we need to pass the PCI assessment. ~ Dan Bowden

Garth Devries did a fantastic job getting the Admissions web application changes and other programming changes done, tested, and into production in support of the new University of Utah Asia Campus in Songdo, South Korea. ~ Pat Burton

When Adam Stewart and Nate Sanders (TLT) recently managed a video project for UIT, they impressed everyone involved with their professional and creative attention to the project. At every step their consistently excellent project communication and organization enabled stakeholders to feel engaged and happy with the process and result. ~ Cassandra Van Buren

A big thanks to Destry Mulleneaux, Nick Pringle, and Jordan Juarez for picking up the slack from Mike Sonntag leaving. ~ Dave Kosanke

I appreciate USS QA staff member Rose Villegas for her dedication, hard work, and ability to support and manage many critical projects at the same time, keeping them moving forward. She does complete and quality testing and is a great mentor to those student interns she has working under her. ~ Dan Thornley

Kudos to Chris Livingston on the Network Team for providing excellent service and support to our colleagues in UIT Unified Communications. ~ Trevor Long

Val Olds took over responsibility for the FAR project this year and successfully got in all the updates for this year while at the same time learning all the intricacies of this area. ~ Pat Burton

Leading up to and after the launch of the new UIT website, Dave Hoisve (CIS) was a key player in ensuring the smoothest possible transition between the old website and the new webpages, service descriptions, and knowledge base articles. His rapid responses, meticulous work, and careful follow-up on all issues meant that internal and external users were able to more easily find the information they needed. ~ Cassandra Van Buren

I would like to collectively nominate the UIT Songdo team for getting the work completed so the Asia Campus could open for admissions in February. A huge thanks to Pat Burton, Garth Devries, Brad Grow, Geoff Gough, Ryan Hines, Jan Lovett, Jeramy Berry, Aimee Morgan, Allan Hill, Ron Muncey, Cindy Debine, Ed Fresco, Rami Islam and Mitch West. ~ Jill Brinton, Jason Moeller, Debbie Rakhsha

Ben Thurlow developed the first phase of the PI Budget Planning Tool. This web-based tool will make it easier for faculty and staff to plan and know how much money they have available in their grants. ~ Pat Burton
