UIT’s network team will move all campus-related Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) at the Downtown Data Center (DDC) behind a firewall in the Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) environment. Clinical networks will not move during the Epic upgrade moratorium.

UIT migrated UMail accounts belonging to students who are not U employees from on-campus hardware/software to Exchange Online, a cloud-hosted Microsoft Office 365 messaging application.

UIT decommissioned various unsupported Windows servers, and upgraded others to Windows 2012 as a Virtual Machine (VM) in VMWare Workstation.

UIT decommissioned the louis.oit.utah.edu server, which supported authentication for legacy Solaris infrastructure.

UIT will migrate one Active Directory (AD) server to a new network in the Downtown Data Center (DDC) and allocate it with a new Internet Protocol (IP) address. Three other AD servers will be decommissioned.

To mitigate a bug in how the campus Netscalers monitor the LDAP servers, UIT rebooted two nodes. The reboot process is routine, but not commonly done during the day.

UIT enabled URL filtering to block known malware and phishing traffic to the Internet.
