ISO unveils new website/Twitter account

Members of UIT’s Information Security Office (ISO) may prefer a low profile, but they're increasingly visible, thanks to a new website and Twitter presence.

“We realized that we needed to do a better job communicating with the campus community,” said ISO Security Specialist Kiston Finney. “We had email, but we wanted additional sources of information which people could digest on their own. With the website, we now have one central spot with the latest, most important security news.”

The website features security advisories directed at IT professionals, breaking reports like a phishing scam from callers alleging to be FBI agents, general interest articles, helpful links, and a feed from ISO’s Twitter account.

These additional communication tools fall under ISO’s mission to offer advice on security trends and approved best practices.

The ISO office is tasked with protecting the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the University’s information technology assets.
