OSL launches new online learning website
On June 9, UIT’s Office of Software Licensing (OSL) launched an Online Learning Opportunities website.
The new site features online skill-development resources related to products that eligible University students, staff, faculty and staff can access free-of-charge from OSL’s software web store. Users can toggle through an array of resources – allowing them to sharpen technical skills on their own time, at their own pace.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised by the number of training resources available online,” said OSL Vendor Manager Bill Lutz. “It only made sense to make them easily accessible to our software users.”
While regular University software clients may be aware of Microsoft online learning courses – provided free-of-charge as part of the University’s Microsoft Campus Agreement – they may not be aware that, for example, Adobe offers an Education Exchange, where educators can download lesson plans related to digital media, engage in discussion forums, and enjoy free courses, workshops, and live events. Other partner software companies maintain instructional YouTube channels, offer training materials for download like guides and white papers, or host software-related blogs.
Lutz said that OSL’s staff will update the webpage as new software is added or training options evolve.
