Video and photos: Craig Stapley retirement reception
In lieu of speeches, Craig Stapley received best wishes via video at his retirement reception on December 20, 2018 at the Commander's House in Fort Douglas.
"It's going to be really dull without Craig's little comments. I think his favorite is, 'I can go home and get treated like this,'" Alijana Kahriman, administrative officer for UIT's University Support Services (USS), said in the video.
Chief Information Officer Steve Hess commended Stapley for his "unique combination of kindness, honesty and a hard work ethic that has really served the university well."
Stapley, financial analyst, retired after 52 years of service to the University of Utah, 45 of which were with UIT.
Stapley's send-off included hors d'oeuvres and refreshments, and several rounds of thank you gifts — a retirement-themed sash and baseball cap, "most beans counted" trophy, green jacket like the one worn by reigning Masters champions, U-branded jacket, $260 check for use at Uinta Golf store, 12 rounds of golf at Bountiful Ridge Golf Club, and a card signed by members of USS. Besides being an avid Utes sports fan, Stapley is a longtime golfer who served annually on the UIT-ITS golf tournament committee.
"You really have been like family to me," Stapley said upon receiving his gifts. "Thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
