Kudos & Congratulations

University IT staff recognized for their excellent work
I would like to recognize Christian Shank (ITS) and his UCloud Dev teammates for their collaborative efforts in our cloud environments.
He is always willing to engage with the Security Engineering team, openly discuss concerns, and collaborate on issues he identifies. He does a great job of raising awareness around potential risks while also helping drive practical solutions. That willingness to communicate and work across teams makes a meaningful difference.
Thanks, Christian and team, for all of your efforts!
~ Ryan Millward, UIT
I’d like to recognize Ivan Mayorquin Cabello (UIT) for the exceptional work he has been doing for our department and for the people he supports.
Recently, Ivan was promoted to Information Technology Specialist III, a recognition that is very fitting given the level of knowledge, responsibility, and initiative he consistently demonstrates. At the same time, he has taken on the responsibility of training a new employee — me — and has been incredibly generous with his time, knowledge, and patience throughout that process. He doesn't simply explain how something works; he takes the time to make sure I understand why it works, how it connects to the larger picture, and how to handle it independently in the future.
That same approach extends to everyone Ivan works with. He has developed a reputation as someone people can rely on to make things happen, regardless of how complicated the issue may be. He works closely with teams, such as Network and Voice, collaborates easily with others, and consistently approaches problems with a positive attitude and a willingness to help. He has an exceptional ability to make people feel valued while still maintaining an incredibly high standard for the work being done.
Ivan has also been contributing to larger improvements within our department, including helping revamp and automate our onboarding and offboarding processes and assisting with the technology needs of new buildings. He frequently stays late or puts in additional effort to make sure things are completed correctly rather than simply completed.
What stands out most about Ivan is that none of this seems to come from a desire for recognition. He is knowledgeable, reliable, and friendly, but remains humble and approachable. Whether he's troubleshooting an IT issue, collaborating with another team, training someone new, or taking on a larger departmental project, he consistently demonstrates the same commitment to doing things well and helping the people around him succeed.
Ivan has quickly become someone I — and many others — know we can turn to when we need help. His promotion to IT Specialist III is well deserved, and the way he continues to support his co-workers and the department makes him even more deserving of recognition. I appreciate everything he has done for me personally during my training, but more importantly, I appreciate the example he sets for what excellent service and teamwork should look like.

I wanted to send an extra special shout out and kudos to Justin Fracchia (UIT) for the continued efforts, assistance, and time that he has given in getting the CDA Exam Center up and running. It has taken many months of communication, coordination, and assistance with numerous ticket requests to get the exam center rewired for use by students. I greatly appreciate all the time, assistance, and follow-up that Justin provided through this project. We are finally able to use the ports and internet in our exam center, which we couldn’t have done without his continued help and persistence. He is an AMAZING asset to our UIT department, and we love working with him. THANKS SO MUCH!!
~ LeeAnn Zappitello, Center for Disability and Access
I want to recognize Trevor Long (UIT) for his efforts in helping a vendor understand how important its product is to the safety and security of our organization. Trevor stays calm while tenaciously pursuing unanswered questions, embodying worthy standards of integrity and accountability. From his efforts, a strained vendor relationship now feels like a partnership, with both sides actively engaged in working toward the same goals. Thank you, Trevor!
~ Warren Malupo, UIT
Sam Lyons (Undergraduate Studies) has been incredibly helpful in managing a few projects we needed IT support for at U Career Success. He is knowledgeable and skilled at explaining complex technical concepts in clear, understandable terms for non-technical audiences. He consistently provides excellent customer service and is timely and helpful in his responses, with great follow-through.
I truly appreciate all the work Sam does to keep things running smoothly. To top it all off, he is positive, cheerful, and an excellent communicator. It is a pleasure to work with him, and his support is greatly appreciated.
