Two UIT employees nominated for staff excellence award

UIT extends a warm congratulations to two employees, Jeanne Krogen and Trevor Long, who were both nominated for the University of Utah 2016 Administration District Staff Excellence Award

Jeanne Krogen, TLT Senior Accountant with President Pershing

Krogen, Senior Accountant for Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT), and Long, Associate Director for Common Infrastructure Services (CIS), were both honored on August 1 at an ice cream social, along with 33 other Administration District nominees. The event was held at The Orangerie at Red Butte Garden, and employees packed out the room to celebrate their colleagues' nominations. Each nominee was announced by Jeff Herring, Chief Human Resources Officer, and received a certificate and photo with President David Pershing.

Excerpts from Krogen's and Long's nominations (without revealing their nominators) are below.

Krogen's nominator said, "Jeanne works above and beyond her duties and responsibilities. She is hardworking, detailed, and fiercely loyal. She loves the University of Utah and is an amazing example of excellence and commitment in all that she does. [...] It would be inadequate to highlight Jeanne's single achievements, because it is her daily and continuous dedication that makes her such a genuinely superior performer."

Long's nominator said, "The past three years, Trevor has had the role of bringing the central University network solutions forward as a strong device for all of campus to consume. Trevor's traits of strong collaboration and respect have helped him bring networking services within UIT to a high level of proficiency and respect. [...] Today, there are rarely missed commitments and when a commitment is coming due, Trevor has created a culture where customers are engaged and any impacts are addressed in a more proactive fashion."

Trevor Long, CIS Associate Director with President Pershing

The University Staff Excellence Awards (USEA) program was established in 1992 as a way to recognize superior service by the U’s full-time staff employees. Back then, only 4 awards were given – but in 2006, the process changed to include a much larger group. The University is now divided into four districts, and 24 total awards are given at the district level based on nominations received from each district. The 24 winners will then be invited to a prestigious luncheon with President Pershing, where the final six University-level winners will be announced and each will receive a $5,000 honorarium.

Congratulations to both Krogen and Long on being nominated!
