IT governance roundup
Architecture and New Technology Committe (ANTC)
- Jim Livingston, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), reviewed the suggestions and changes made to the network connection agreement by the ad hoc committee and brought up several concerns about the current document. After some considerable discussion, the group approved the document with some additional edits, and the agreement was sent to SITC for consideration.
- Corey Roach, Information Security Office (ISO), presented the progress and findings of the certificate management ad hoc committee. No items were voted on; however, the committee asked Corey to write up an official proposal for the suggested plan to clean up and analyze current certificates, which will help determine the next steps.
- The committee agreed to move next month’s meeting up by one week, to avoid meeting on the first day of the semester. The next meeting will be held Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Dumke room of the Eccles Broadcast Center.
Strategic Information Technology Committee (SITC)
- Jim Livingston walked through the network connection agreement. The committee had an additional change to the verbiage and noted that additional detail on the coordination of network maintenance for in-building networks may be necessary in the future. The agreement was approved with the pending change.
- Paula Millington, UIT Process Office director, presented on the holistic web strategy approach, which would create a governance committee to gather people together to shape web strategy and guidelines. While no official vote was held, there was a general consensus that Paula could move forward with this approach and go on a listening tour to get feedback on how to create the 2017 strategy. Members are asked to volunteer themselves or suggest others who should serve on the web governance committee. Those names can be sent to paula.millington@utah.edu.
- The committee voted to approve the “retire a service” submission form as-is.
- A poll will be sent out to SITC members to gauge the best standing day and time for future meetings.
