Kudos & Congratulations

Congratulations to Craig Stapley (Finance) and Peter Panos (Finance) for winning last month's prize drawing!

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Kudos to Anita Orendt for helping to "herd cats" while putting together the NIH Shared Instrument Grant proposal for replacement of the "protected environment" for research computing.

~ Tom Cheatham, Center for High Performance Computing

I would like to recognize Allan Hill from USS Student Engineering, as well as Thanh Nguyen and Dusty Argyle from Systems for getting uDirect set up on new Apache Tomcat servers in Dev, Test, and Prod. This was a lot of work completed in a very timely manner.

~ Pat Burton, University Support Services

I would like to thank Lisa Kuhn and her team for all the hard work they did on preparing the budget. Many long nights and a few weekends were sacrificed for getting the budget together.

~ Jill Brinton, Project Management Office

Chris Pfeiffer just received his certification as a CMMI Associate. CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is a framework of best practices for process improvement developed at the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Melon University. The framework outlines the goals and practices needed to improve capabilities in individual process areas and to increase overall process maturity across an organization. Facility with this model puts more tools into Chris’s tool kit to help facilitate process improvement. Incidentally, Chris earned a perfect score on the exam and the average score was 82% (need 80% to pass). Congratulations!

~ Paula Millington, Process Office

Anyone can submit an item for Kudos & Congrats!

Simply email praise for your UIT colleagues to stratcomm@it.utah.edu. The people you recognize will be put into a drawing to win gift cards, event tickets, merchandise and more. Those who submit entries will also be put in a separate drawing for more prizes. (Directors and associate/assistant directors not eligible for prizes.)

A special thank you to some exceptional campus organizations that, in the past, have donated tickets, merchandise, and gift cards to help recognize UIT employees: Athletics, Auxiliary Services, Dining Services, Kingsbury Hall, Pioneer Theatre Company, Red Butte Garden, UIT Leadership, and Utah Museum of Fine Art.
