Adobe CC agreement renewed for another three years
UIT is excited to announce that students, faculty, and staff will have access to Adobe’s Creative Cloud for another three years, thanks to an agreement signed earlier this month. The renewed contract comes with new services and features, such as Behance, Portfolio, and 20 gigabytes of cloud storage.
“This is a phenomenal deal for students, staff, and faculty,” said Bill Lutz, Vendor Manager for the Office of Software Licensing (OSL).
In addition to the newly-added features, logging in just got a little bit easier with the transition to single-sign-on (SSO). This means you’ll log in with uNID@utah.edu and your CIS password, like you do many other University applications, eliminating the need to remember yet another username/password combination.
For current Adobe users, there’s an easy way to transition over to SSO. (See instructions.) “It’s a simple thing – it just takes a few minutes,” said Lutz.
Students will also no longer need to obtain the Adobe CC software via a redemption code (which had to be renewed each year).
Now, “it’s going to be good for the whole term of the agreement [three years], or as long as they’re a student,” said Lutz.
Additionally, faculty and staff who used to pay $9.75 for an annual work-at-home license will now have the ability to license two machines with the free version they use on campus – one at work, and one at home.
“The bottom line is, they don’t have to buy it anymore,” said Lutz.
The software has been steadily gaining popularity since it was introduced to campus three years ago. Student usage alone is up by 24% over last year, and faculty/staff usage is up nearly 30%.
“I’m really expecting to see a big uptick in the amount of people that take advantage of this,” Lutz added. “It’s a real cost savings.”
