Kronos upgrade includes new look and feel, Java fixes

This summer, Kronos – the University’s payroll application – is getting a huge upgrade. 

The current version being utilized is two versions behind the most recent release, which has caused instability issues, incompatibility with hardware updates, and issues when using the Java version.

Users, especially payroll reporters, will be happy to hear that those issues will be resolved when the U upgrades to the newest Kronos release this summer, thanks to a collaborative effort between UIT University Support Services, ITS Training, and Campus/Hospital HR, along with many others who have been working hard on the project.

During the upgrade, the Kronos application will also be moved from on-premise infrastructure to a cloud-hosted solution. This ensures that the University remains on a relevant and supported version of Kronos, and moves the responsibility for system architecture, maintenance, and support over to Kronos, freeing up the U's IT resources to focus on more specific business needs.

Highlights of the upgrade to look forward to include the transition to single sign-on, which is how users log in to the majority of University applications; a permanent fix to longstanding Java issues; and a new look and feel for end users. 

Targeted training is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-June. Stay tuned for more information as the project moves forward.
