All-Hands Meeting roundup and photos
The UIT All-Hands Meeting on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 kicked off with Chief Information Officer Steve Hess welcoming the group and discussing the organization's accomplishments, initiatives, vision, values, and metrics. He gave a brief overview of the UIT and campus strategic plans for fiscal years 2019-2020, and how they tie in with the university's four stragetic goals.
The following UIT directors delivered reports on their teams: Chief Financial Officer for UIT/UETN Lisa Kuhn; Chief Technology Officer Jim Livingston; Strategic Planning and Process Team Director Paula Millington; Deputy CIO Ken Pink; recently-appointed Chief Information Security Officer Corey Roach; and Teaching & Learning Technologies (TLT) Director Jon Thomas.
Pink returned to the podium to recognize UIT employees who have reached milestone years of service spanning 10 to 45 years, thanking them for their dedication, and reading a "fun fact" about each person as they received their certificates of appreciation.
The Kevin Taylor Memorial Service Award ceremony closed out the meeting. Committee members took turns speaking about the award and this year's nominees: Paul Burrows, Jake Johansen, Matt Munro, Beth Sallay, Monte Shaw, and Jody Sluder. CIO Hess announced this year's winner, Paul Burrows. Because Burrows was unable to attend, TLT Director Thomas accepted on his behalf. Burrows will receive a plaque and check for $500, and all nominees and committee members will attend an appreciation luncheon later in the fall.
Meeting slides, video, and handout will be available on the CIO webpage.
