Shorter days and cooler evenings are nature’s “tells” that summer’s winding down.
Ripening peaches, plums, peppers, and squash also offer subtle cues that autumn is
imminent.
U students, staff, and faculty fortunately don’t have to go far to find seasonal fruits
and veggies. The U of U Farmers Market, which links local growers, artisans, and resources for healthy lives, is open for
business every Thursday through October 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Located in
Tanner Plaza between the Student Services Building and A. Ray Olpin Student Union,
the market features produce from the Edible Campus Gardens; food vendors; handmade arts, crafts, jewelry, and clothing; drinks; baked goods;
sweet treats; and resources for students from local and campus organizations.
The market, in its 17th year, is hosted by the Office for Sustainability Education and sponsored by the U of U Staff Council, Harmons Grocery, and Farm Fresh to You.
