1TB storage for all Box accounts

UBox logoA new agreement between Internet 2, the University of Utah, and Box.com will give all new and existing University Box accounts 1TB (terabyte) of storage. That’s considerably more storage for all of your collaborative projects and documents.

“Storage restraints are quickly becoming a thing of the past,” said John Wardle, product manager for UIT’s Unified Communications. “The market is very competitive right now, which only benefits the user.”

The agreement also increases the single file upload size limit from 10GB to 15GB.

All new accounts will automatically receive the 1TB quota. Accounts established prior to February 1, 2016 will receive the increase on or before March 1, 2016. Anyone in immediate need of the full quota may contact the UIT Help Desk at 801-581-4000, option 1 to request an expedited increase.

The University signed a deal with Box in the spring of 2014, provisioning all students, faculty and staff with a free Box enterprise account.

The online cloud storage and collaboration tool allows users to store, access and share files and folders anywhere, on any device. Users can create files and folders shareable with a direct link, or invite classmates and colleagues to contribute, revise and review content.

Box accounts provide single sign-on authentication through the U’s Central Authentication Service (CAS).

Additional features include:

    • Password-protected sharing
    • File editing within the application
    • Version history
    • Google app integration
    • HIPAA and FERPA compliance
    •  24/7 Campus Help Desk support
