The California native, whose wife describes him as a “nerd with social skills,” was one of the university’s first IT security employees and a Unix hardware tech. As a manager, Packham sees leadership in terms of “success and opportunity” rather than simply “success and failure.”

To better protect institutional and user data, the University of Utah will soon require students, affiliates, and alumni to use Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) to access certain U online applications and resources.

Policy 4-010 requires all U of U and University of Utah Health employees, including student employees, and university trustees to use only official enterprise email systems to conduct institutional business by email.

The Enterprise Web Advisory Council met on February 10. The Strategic Information Technology Committee will next meet on March 8, the Architecture and New Technology Committee will meet on March 28, and the Teaching and Learning Portfolio will reconvene at a date to be determined.
