Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Congratulations to Charles Wilcox (Information Security Office) and Randall Felter (CTO organization) for winning the last prize drawing!

Heather Winters in Voice Systems really helped me out on yet another blistery winter's day ... in spring. My power blipped for a second and Avaya hates me!

Heather had me up and running in no time.

~ Jane Otis, Dermatology Billing

Chris Moore is awesome! He is always willing to help and does so with such a pleasant demeanor. He recently went above and beyond to help us troubleshoot an issue after hours. We really appreciate Chris and his willingness to help.

~ Josh Grey, CTO organization

I sincerely appreciate all help from Julia A. Harrison. She is a problem solver and very knowledgeable about what she is doing and beyond. She always can shine a light on the issue we run into with Avaya phone software. Thank you, Julia!

~ Joey Yang, CTO organization

I want to take a minute to thank the Campus Computer Support team for its help. I called several times and couldn’t find solution, but this week, thanks to Farid Lopez, everything was resolved and my remote device works.

I also want to thank Warren Worsley for the professionalism and helpfulness of his team. Farid helped, and now everything works just great.

~ Anzhelika Martyrosian, Office of Admissions

Julia A. Harrison: Thank you for so quickly fixing an issue with our patient call routing. Really appreciate your fast response. You are AWESOME!!

~ Victoria Hobbs, Pediatric Clinic

This congratulations goes out to everyone who worked on the move of our critical network node in the Park building to our new facility in Research Park, over one weekend. The list of people is long and rather than list all the names, I just want to say that everyone involved in this effort worked together as a true project team and brought this major project across the line almost flawlessly.

Of course with a project of this size there were a couple little hiccups, but even there, those problems were identified quickly and corrected just as fast.

This might sound simple enough but the number of moving parts and individual responsibilities in this project was huge. There were three major groups involved, including the network team, the data center operations team, and the fiber/copper cable plant team. It's no exaggeration to say that everyone from each of these groups was involved in this project. And by involved I don't mean just listening in on project meetings — everyone had hands-on responsibilities and showed what it looks like to have a truly coordinated team working together toward a common goal.

From the project management point of view, every one of you helped make my job just that much easier, which was greatly appreciated. But more importantly it's that cooperation and team work that meant that we could make a project like this come together and almost no one knew that it happened, which is exactly as it should be.

Congratulations to all of you and my sincere thanks.

~ Earl Lewis, UIT Project Management Office

I want to thank Namita Mahtta for stepping up and into the role of the FFR team Scrum Master for several weeks while maintaining her role as a developer at the same time.

~ Val Olds, University Support Services

I would like to give a huge shoutout to Heather Winters for all of her assistance. She resolved an issue that I had with my phone, and I am so thankful for her knowledge and skills. She took the time to ask the important questions needed to resolve the issue. And she saved our department money as well. Thank you, Heather!

~ Jane Chandramouli, Pharmacy

I want to express my gratitude to those who helped rectify a major Jira "oops" on my part. Thanh Nguyen, Marc Thompson, Rob Birkinshaw, and Jason Moeller — THANK YOU for all of the time (and magic) you provided to bring our Jira back to working order!

~ Emily Jacoby, University Support Services

Huge thanks to Colby Evans from Network Services! Despite all the load balancer services he supports, he still spent one-on-one time with me at midnight on a weekend to experiment with our clinical OnBase load balancer.

~ Steven Thorderson, ITS Ancillary Database Services

A big thank you to Patrick Oberg for helping me deal with the pains of getting a new phone! I was getting all kinds of error messages and couldn't log in to much without a pop-up error message showing up on my phone. Turns out it wasn't my phone but the Wi-Fi network I was connected to. Patrick was patient, knowledgeable and so nice through the entire process.

~ Lisa Lovoi, Business Career Services, David Eccles School of Business

Don Durazo and John Telford have both been great with the new cell phone rollout as the Department of Public Safety switches to Verizon. Don in particular was absolutely stellar last week. Of all the phones to have issues, Murphy’s Law dictated it was Keith Squires’ phone. Don persevered through “call center challenges” to try to resolve the issue with Keith’s phone. Our Verizon rep was at a conference so unavailable to assist. Don was hung up on numerous times and was transferred more times than I could track. Through it all, he remained professional and didn’t get flustered. It was very impressive. Calls to call centers are challenging for everyone, and I was so impressed at how calm he remained. He eventually got it all figured out and fully functional.

They both deserve a high five, gold star, and a huge thank you!

~ Heidi Frank, executive assistant to Chief Keith Squires, Department of Public Safety

Samantha Lankford's instructions were PERFECT! Thank you so much for your expert help, Sam. You were delightful to work with, patient, very intuitive, and knew just what I needed.

~ Chere Wood, program assistant, KUEN/Utah Education Network

Robert Veljak is a great team member. We have been working on transferring all of the department phones from FirstNet over to Verizon. We were coming up on our deadline so the port over of the phone numbers would work correctly. We were having a really hard time getting access with Keith Squires for his phone. Robert assisted us and was able to get Keith’s phone set up over at the Park Building. It really did help us out a bunch. I have thanked him but also wanted to give him a shout-out.

~ Don Durazo, CTO organization

Heather Winters worked with me multiple times to get my computer working properly and she was so nice, caring, and attentive to my needs. She was very patient with me while I got my computer working and she was quite pleasant to work with. I would love to be able to give her a kudos every time we work together because she is so professional and polite and responsive! If she sees this kudos, thank you so much, Heather, for helping me. My faith in UIT has been restored : )

~ Jessica Johnson, Registrar's Office
