Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Congratulations to Jordan Keller and Alex Miller (both from the CTO organization) for winning the last prize drawing!

I'd like to say thanks to Clayton Norlen for having such a positive attitude all the time. Kudos for the positive vibes, Clayton. Keep them coming.

I'd like to give a kudos to Jesse Adams. As a new leader in ISO, there's a lot to learn and he has been a fantastic resource in helping me come up to speed on things. THANKS Jesse!

~ Dustin Udy, Information Security Office

In an IT governance meeting this spring, faculty members identified wifi issues they and their students experienced during large-enrollment classes. I asked the Network Services team to look into the situation, and they identified and resolved the issues like the pros that they are. Thank you Christian Johnson, Curtis Larsen, and Dave Thomaz!

Special thanks to Senior Network Engineer Brandon Callahan, because in addition to working on the issues, throughout the project he did an amazing job updating the ticket with progress notes so that the the professors  knew what was happening over time. They never felt their project had "fallen into the void" and were very happy with the outcome and Brandon's communication skills.

~ Cassandra Van Buren, UIT Strategic Communication

Thank you, Mike Hess, for all your work in supporting and creating new features that help over 100 graduate advisors campus-wide with the Graduate Student Degree Tracking System!

~ Darci Rollins, Graduate School

A big shoutout and THANK YOU to Heather Winters for her time and assistance with our phone lines. She was incredibly patient, kind, helpful, professional, and easy to communicate with as we worked together on modifying and testing a couple of our phones lines in the College of Science Dean's Office. Thank you, Heather!

~ Lindsey DeSpain, College of Science

I would love to give kudos to Heather Winters! She has been fantastic with helping me and my office set up features using the Avaya software platform. She took the time to go through my list that I provided and made sure that everyone had all the buttons they needed and to make sure that we are being billed for the correct services. When I have had questions, she gets back to me with the answers very quickly. She is truly amazing and love working with her.

~ Courtney Young, Financial Aid and Scholarships

So many kudos for Heather Winters! I "Attn: heather winters" on all my UIT phone services requests because I want no one except her to help me! She is so knowledgeable and seems to read my mind and know exactly what I am asking without asking it. I also bug her all the time on Teams with silly questions, and she is always happy to help me. I wish UIT could copy Heather to make a million of her so that all the Heather clones could run UIT. 😋 I can't say more awesome things about her!

~ Mandy Skonhovd, HR

Kudos to Reza Sarijlou and Jordan Ainsle. I've learned a lot from them and they are also very kind and compassionate people. I'm very glad they I get to work with them.

~ Sailalithasunaina Madgula, University Support Services

I would like to Thank Robert Veljak, Steven Maloy, and Matt Munro for always being willing to answer my questions as I onboard here at the University of Utah.

Robert has been super helpful with getting me up to speed on the University's email system and making VLAN changes.

Steven also helped me out a great deal with the email configuration issues I was facing and helped me knock out a ticket for a customer.

Matt has never failed to respond anytime I have a question about processes, best practices, and all things UCCS.

KUDOS and THANK YOU to all of my coworkers for helping this newbie get onboarded and up to speed with my new role!

~ Ellis Valdez, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) organization

Rachel Burgie found a problem that was initially dismissed by myself and a few other people. She advocated for her user which in turn lead IAM to discover a larger issue. I am so impressed. It takes attention to detail and persistence when others who should know better are telling her she is wrong. In case she doesn’t get enough praise for her work, I hope this makes up for it.

~ Beth Sallay, Information Security Office

Rachel Burgie worked with the Campus Store to fix my damaged laptop. This rather complicated repair involved replacing the screen, sensors, and logic board. Every step along the way, Rachel was reassuring, positive, provided timely updates, and gently guided me through the re-onboarding process. Wonderful customer service from beginning to end. Thanks, Rachel!

~ Jesse Drake, UIT Strategic Communication

With IAM Operations taking on more onboarding responsibilities for the Unified Cybersecurity Toolset project involving privileged access management (PAM) for admin using RDP and SSH protocols, we've needed the input and assistance from several of our central IT brothers and sisters. Thank you for your help!

Nate Remnyse — You took a few minutes to join our meeting, helping us navigate and better understand the firewall rules we needed to adjust. You were helpful and incredibly gracious, as some of the things we discussed were very new to us. Thank you for being willing to take the time to help us out!

Dragisha Ignjatovic — To help troubleshoot PAM-related connection issues, you made time in your schedule to help us examine specific monitoring servers and their Duo integration setup. With your information, we were able to quickly map out the issue and implement the best solution. Your thoughtful consideration and positive attitude speak volumes to your value in our organization. Thank you for taking the time to help us out!

~ Warren Malupo, IAM
