Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Congratulations to Jared Gronning and Zach Zitterkopf, both from the CTO organization, for winning the last prize drawing!

Gordon Kafton, Tyler Chmelik, and Justin Rotundo handled a very time critical purchase, software install, and account setup for eight laptops necessary for an undergrad class that recently started. How to handle the purchase and student accounts required quite a bit of planning on their part. The students had no idea that this was a big deal to have the resources they had at their fingertips, but it was.

~ John Horel, Atmospheric Sciences

Thanks to Syndi Haywood, Julia Harrison, Roy Schulz, and Clayton Norlen for some last-minute help with a phone issue. I appreciate their working well after business hours to get this issue fixed. You are all such a great team!

~ Mike Smith, Financial Services

Corey Hayes did an incredible job making sure my remote phone got fixed. He never gave up because he knew how my phone impacted my ability to help patients and other clinics. Thank you.

~ Cindy Garrett, Huntsman Cancer Institute

I always have great experiences working with Julia Harrison (CTO organization). She is a joy to work with!

~ Spencer Kocherhans, Pediatric Clinical Enterprise

Roland Curtis is incredible! He went above and beyond to make sure my phone issues were resolved. The dedication, hard work, and patience he showed was inspiring. Thank you so much for everything.

~ Cindy Garrett, Huntsman Cancer Institute

I wanted to recognize one of your exceptional employees, Charles Wilcox, who spent several hours helping to correct a high-priority IT issue. Charles has been AMAZING to work with and I wanted to send a thank you. I appreciate his follow-up and communication. The individual attention Charles gave to this problem deserves more than just a five-star survey.

~ Anissa Kleemeyer, Nutrition Care Services

I would like to commend Chris Livingston and Derek Koolhoven (and Ken Kizer on the hospital side) for their outstanding work on a recent project. The team successfully tackled a formidable task by categorizing and indexing communication logs from a brownfield server. Their efforts provided us with the data that will guide our decisions regarding allow/deny rules as we migrate to the Greenfield. The team's attention to detail was impressive and required several weeks of effort. The results of their work will serve as a blueprint for all future server moves.

This first server was particularly complex, and the team's ability to develop a process for it was essential in establishing a strong foundation for the rest of the project. Their dedication and perseverance in the face of such a daunting task were truly remarkable. I would like to express my gratitude to the team for their exceptional work.

~ Travis McKee, Information Technology Services

I'd like to nominate Steven Maloy from the UMail team as he's always incredibly kind and helpful whenever our UIT Campus Help Desk team runs into issues with UMail. He has helped me on many occasions whenever I've run into UMail issues with users, and his advice is always thorough and informative. Always happy to work with him.

~ Randall Felter, CTO organization

Joey Yang, thank you so much for letting me borrow the extra charging cable! You saved the day!

~ Hui Qiao, UIT Data Management and Analytics

Kudos and congrats to the UIT DBA team — Rob Birkinshaw, Arnie Carter, Josh Grey, Robert Jans, and Zach Zitterkopf  — for improving PeopleSoft database restore times. The new Rubrik Backup/Restore software is now able to restore an Oracle pluggable database faster than the previous Commvault product. Big "Thanks!" to Matt Juber on the server team for frequently updating the Rubrik product to enable this feature.

~ Peter Mo, CTO organization
