UIT Partner Relations wrapped up the year by celebrating nine University of Utah organizations for implementing a suite of cybersecurity tools:

The UIT-sponsored event at Marriott Library on December 4, 2025, featured pizza from Pie Pizzeria, soda, and “Cybersecurity Superstar” T-shirt giveaways. The event marked the fulfillment of a primary requirement of the University of Utah Cybersecurity Program commissioned by President Taylor Randall in 2023 (memo in Box; login required) and led by the Information Security Office and UIT Partner Relations teams.

“This is our thank you for all the hard work that you’ve done,” said UIT Partner Relations Director Clay Postma. “It’s been a long haul for a lot of you, and we really appreciate the attention to detail — dotting those I’s and crossing those T’s — and getting across the finish line.”

Ian Ferguson, IT supervisor for the College of Law, in turn, said “every team responsible for one of the tools was very friendly, helpful, and able to solve all our problems as we learned and deployed these tools.”

Jim Logue, IT manager for the College of Education’s Dean’s office, agreed.

“With small teams of two at the college and a single person at the Reading Clinic, implementation was challenging to squeeze into our usual routines,” said Logue, who gave a special shoutout to Dean Keyek-Franssen, recently promoted from associate director for UIT Partner Relations to director for the new UIT University Technology Management unit in UIT’s Chief Technology Officer organization, for his “patience and ability to connect us with the content experts to get us through the project.”

Tyler Chmelik, systems administrator for the College of Mines and Earth Sciences, added, “it feels great knowing we’ve made the U more secure.”
