A team representing UIT finished first in the 16th annual ITS-UIT golf tournament on September 5, 2025, at Rose Park Golf Course.

The first-place team (UIT’s Mark Curtz, Ed Fresco, and retiree Pat Burton, and Jake O’Connor, who works for the U’s Financial Services office) finished with a score of 30 (6 under par). The second place team (ITS’ Michael Flitton, Jeremy Farnsworth, Heather Bone, and Taylor Aldous) had a score of 31 (5 under par), beating another 5 under par team (UIT’s Rudy Matthes, Trevor Long, Michael Adair, and Marcelo Dos Santos) by scoring an eagle — 2 strokes under par — in a scorecard playoff on hole 2.

This year marks the second consecutive year at Rose Park Golf Course. Opened in 1958, the 18-hole course features a meandering Jordan River that splits the front and back nines, with straight and dogleg fairways framed scenically by pine and willow trees.

“Though the course has few water hazards or bunkers, it’s more challenging than it first appears. There’s something for everyone at every skill level,” said Mark Curtz, a product manager for UIT University Support Services (USS) who organizes the event. “It was fun and great to see so many familiar faces, and a few new ones this year, too.”

UIT and ITS leadership thank Curtz for coordinating the event.
