Livingston named University of Utah Health interim CIO
UIT leadership congratulates Jim Livingston, who has been named University of Utah Health's interim chief information officer (CIO).
Livingston will continue his role as chief technology officer for U of U Health and the University of Utah while the health care system conducts the search for a new CIO. He replaces U of U Health CIO Jim Turnbull, who will retire on July 3, 2020.
"Jim steps into this role at an unusual time in our history, as we straddle the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis with those of continuing growth in patient volumes, new facilities, and uncertain economic and political times,” Turnbull said. “... I have never doubted as I’ve approached my retirement date that I would be leaving our division in good hands, and I'm confident that Jim is the right leader for the job."
A Utah native, Livingston has served the university for 31 years. His career highlights include being the original architect and developer of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, architecting much of the IT infrastructure technology for the University of Utah Hospital, and overseeing the design and construction of the U’s Downtown Data Center.
"Jim has extensive knowledge and experience, and over the last many years, has served our academic medical center exceptionally well. I am confident that he will continue to lead us forward as the interim CIO," said U of U Health-Hospital and Clinics CEO Gordon Crabtree.
