'Cybersecurity superstars' complete tool implementation

Five campus organizations have successfully implemented a suite of cybersecurity tools, fulfilling a primary requirement of the University of Utah Cybersecurity Program. These “cybersecurity superstars” were celebrated recently with pizza from Pie Pizzeria and T-shirts provided by UIT.

Teaching and Learning Portfolio improves Learning Spaces process

The TLP updated the annual Learning Spaces-Student Computing Fees allocation process for FY2026 to give applicants more time to prepare proposals, provide Digital Learning Technologies more time to complete AV estimates, improve the user experience, and synchronize lab usage statistics.

ITIL website revamped, new class dates announced

UIT has migrated resources related to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to a new website and new dates for ITIL 4 Foundations classes, taught by University of Utah instructors, have been announced.

IT Governance

The Enterprise Web Advisory Council met on October 10, and the Teaching and Learning Portfolio met on October 15. The Strategic Information Technology Committee will reconvene on November 12, and the Architecture and New Technology Committee will regroup on November 25.

UIT All-Hands Meeting and Kevin Taylor Award recap

CIO Steve Hess, who will retire in 2026, hosted his last UIT All-Hands Meeting on October 8. The annual meeting gives Hess an opportunity to share organizational updates and the strategic direction of UIT and university at large, and concluded with the presentation of the Kevin Taylor Memorial Service Award to Security Administrator Robert Lake.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month: Securing our world
