“Lake Powell at Night” by Gary Carter won the DCIO Photography Contest.

Despite being delayed a month due to a winter storm, this year’s Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) organization’s team-building and morale events got off to a sweet start.

Waffle Wednesday, held on February 14, featured liège waffles with strawberries and whipped cream from Bruges Belgian Bistro. According to Bruges, liège waffles are made with pearl sugar imported from Belgium, which caramelizes during the cooking process.

On March 13, DCIO employees celebrated Pi Day (3/14) with pizza from Pie Pizzeria. The “Just Shy of Pi” Day Celebration also featured general trivia, including questions about pi and pizza, and games, including Apples to Apples, Jenga, and Pit.

April’s event concluded just last night, when voting ended for the DCIO (USS) Photography Contest. Twenty-seven employees submitted images, ranging from nature and landscapes to animals and more artistic perspectives. Although the competition was close, a starry image of Lake Powell by Gary Carter won with 25 votes.

Thank you to the DCIO Smells Like Team Spirit Committee for organizing and managing the events. Below are photos from the events, including a selection from the photography contest.
