Network Engineer Rick Titus retires after 35 years

After 35 years of distinguished service to the University of Utah, UIT Network Engineer Rick Titus closed the final chapter of what he called a “meaningful and fulfilling” career at a retirement reception in his honor on April 23, 2025, at 102 Tower.
“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many talented individuals. The relationships I’ve built over the years have been the true cornerstone of my career,” Titus said. “Thank you for being an integral part of my journey. It’s been an honor to work with you.”
Titus’ first job at the university was at the Campus Store, selling computers and later, managing a team in charge of computer repair. He joined UIT’s Network Services team (now Core Infrastructure Services), where he spent the remainder of his career troubleshooting network issues, tackling monitoring challenges, supporting student employees, managing help tickets, and fielding phone calls.
“No matter the role, my goal has always been to provide excellent service and leave things better than I found them,” Titus said.
Please join UIT Leadership in wishing Titus a happy, well-earned retirement. Titus’ final day will be May 2, so it’s not too late to share favorite memories of, stories about, and well-wishes for him in the IT Community channel in Microsoft Teams (login required).
