Deputy CIO Ken Pink to retire on 10/31, org will be realigned

As previously announced, Ken Pink, the University of Utah’s deputy chief information officer since 2015, will retire on October 31, 2025.

Chief Information Officer Steve Hess has announced the following organizational changes related to Pink’s retirement. The changes are effective November 3, and UIT organizational charts, the UIT Leadership website, and other information resources will be updated accordingly.

  • Jason Moeller will be promoted to senior director for University Support Services (USS). He will report to Hess and join the UIT Leadership team.
  • Gary Carter, Barb Iannucci, Doug Kenner, Dan Thornley, Suzanne Wayment, and Kristi Vandenham will report to Moeller.
  • Kenner will be promoted to director for USS Engineering.
  • Cassandra Van Buren, director for Strategic Communication and UIT Leadership team member, will report to Hess.
  • John Penrose, director for the Project Management Office, will report to Hess.
  • Jeff Shuckra, associate director for Strategic Planning and Process, will report to Hess.
  • Clay Postma, director for Partner Relations, will dual report to Hess and Chief Information Security Officer Jake Johansen.
  • Brandon Gresham will move from managing the UIT CRM team to managing the HR/Auxiliary Engineering team and handling HR product management. The UIT CRM team will report directly to Iannucci.
