UIT employees gathered on April 19 to say goodbye to Scott Sherman, special assistant to the CIO. Sherman started at the U in 2013 as a communications specialist on the UIT Strategic Communication team before moving into the special assistant role in 2014.

Rain didn't rain on a parade of University Support Services staff members who took part in a downtown scavenger hunt on April 6. The "precipitous" race kicked off an employee morale event, which culminated in a lunch catered by R&R BBQ.

The Architecture and New Technology Committee met on April 23. The Teaching and Learning Portfolio and Strategic Information Technology Committee did not meet in April. The Enterprise Web Advisory Council will meet on April 27, 2018.

On July 17, 2018, Duo phone call and text message options for two-factor authentication (2FA) will be discontinued. Users need to select another method for Duo 2FA to log in to the majority of university applications (e.g. Canvas, CIS, Box) after July 17.

Researchers at the University of Utah, along with Rice University in Houston, have been selected by the PAWR Project Office to create and operate a “living laboratory” for mobile and wireless technologies at the University of Utah and in Salt Lake City, according to the U’s press release on April 9, 2018.

UIT’s online newsletter Node 4 will soon start publishing on a special summer schedule, every other month, rather than its current monthly schedule. The next two editions will be released in June and August.
