Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Congratulations to Matt Munro (Communications Infrastructure) and Stacy Vincent (Information Security Office) for winning the last prize drawing!

McKenzie Spehar recently helped me with a problem with Outlook that I’ve had ever since the U switched email to double authentication. This has been a serious problem given I am chair of the largest major on campus (psychology). I had called UIT at least 3 times before with the same unresolved problem. McKenzie walked me through a series of potential fixes and when none worked, provided me with detailed instructions on a solution that finally worked. I would give McKenzie 10 stars for her patience and trouble-shooting. She is a real asset to your team.

~ Bert Uchino, professor and chair, Department of Psychology

Kudos to Christopher Eberhart, Suzanne Wayment, and Scott Wilgar for their incredible work done with the rewrite of the MyClasses sync from PeopleSoft to the Canvas system.

~ Brad Grow, University Support Services

I'd like to give a huge thank you to our student employees. They help us with every facet of ServiceNow. There have been a lot of instances where they've been able to teach me something new (more than I'd like to admit), and I really appreciate it. They're amazing employees with very bright futures and I'm extremely thankful they're on our team. Thank you all!

~ Ross Bunnell, CTO Service Management

Michael Madsen is an absolute wizard with a skill set that is truly impressive. Whether it's processes, people, or parsing data in Excel, he's amazing. I know his skill set is both more broad and more deep than I really know, but in the past few weeks I've had the pleasure of working with him more than usual, and Michael has been superb in every interaction we've had. Michael just makes things happen. He takes whatever is thrown in his direction and makes it work.

Kudos and thanks to Michael — you're a star, and you're a great asset to the university and to every team you're on. Thank you!

~ Chris Stucker, Information Security Office

A big kudos to Melissa Ulfich for all the support she's given me during my onboarding process! You've been a great source of help, and I really appreciate you and all you do!

~ Shenia Sellers, University Support Services

I would like to give a shout out to Roger Kowallis for his work implementing and rolling out the new utah.edu home page redesign for University Marketing & Communications. Roger's professionalism and patience was LIMITLESS as everyone else around him blew through deadlines, scrambled to finalize the design, and squeezed in a mountain of last-minute changes leading up to and including the final hour. He did a truly outstanding job of bringing order to chaos, and I am always so impressed with Roger's commitment to quality work and attention to the smallest details.

I would also like to give a shout-out to Adam Williams for spending a lot of time (during lunch hours) helping us with load testing and accommodating our numerous last-minute requests as the target continued to move.

Final shout-out for this project goes to Kim Tanner and her team for their work in ensuring that the new hosting environment for the home page is fast, reliable, and can accommodate large spikes of traffic in preparation for the start of school and the upcoming VP debates.

~ Barb Iannucci, University Support Services

Kudos to Dean Murray for supporting the ServiceNow team while so many people were out answering phones for the Service Desk. Also, he's been still helping and fielding questions from new team members, including myself, while still getting work done. So thank you and kudos to him.

Kudos to Douglas Fidler for being a supportive, friendly, and accessible manager for our team. With his experience and knowledge, he has been a great addition and resource for our team. I appreciate all the work he's done to get up to speed, and to get our team and the organization to fulfill the new security requirements required of us moving forward. So kudos and thank you to him as well.

~ Jasmine Haywood, Chief Technology Officer organization

The USS Auxiliary web team recently launched the new Student Software Catalog. This required the web team to focus solely on this project, as well as working after hours and weekends for the last two weeks.

I want to personally acknowledge and thank each individual of the team for their hard work, dedication, and passion: Geoff Anderson, Clint Bowles, Matt Edgren, John Fresco, Nelson LeDuc, Thanh Nguyen, Srinivas Peddola, Thomas Radman, and Lihong Yu. I'd also like to thank Gary Carter, Doug Kenner, and Jason Moeller for their support.

A big thank you to Val Olds, for allowing Lihong Yu to join our team for several weeks to help us make our deadline, and to Jesse Drake for getting the word out.

~ Jan Lovett, University Support Services

Kudos to Martin Cuma, Steven "Sharpie" Harper, and Brian Haymore for their advice.

Kudos to Mitchell Steinman for all the friendly help and advice.

~ Pierce Jorgensen, SLATE

Kudos to Roger Kowallis for all of his hard work in getting the new university home page online in such a timely and effective manner — great work for a project that was too last minute for comfort.
