UIT teams recently celebrated the successful implementations of the university’s default deny firewall policy and cybersecurity toolset for each of UIT Campus Computer Support’s (UCCS) customers.

In IT, a disaster is any event that seriously disrupts the systems the university depends on. Recovery is the planning and practice that gets those systems back up quickly. Here’s how campus IT and U of U Health are working together to build that capability.

While UIT has played and will continue to play a critical role in three high-profile new construction projects, many significant IT changes ahead of the new semester were less visible — from expanding the U’s AI toolset to big strides in web accessibility.

UIT has purchased and is testing Viavi Solutions’ Observer platform, a suite of networking performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) software products that visualizes and analyzes network and server traffic.

UIT is leading a phased project to deploy a cybersecurity solution called network access control (NAC) at the University of Utah and University of Utah Health. NAC implementation at the U has been in development since 2019.
