If UIT had a hall of fame, Chief Technology Officer Jim Livingston said Jon Ross would “definitely be enshrined there.” Livingston delivered his remarks on July 22 at a retirement reception honoring Ross' 37 years of service to the university.

The next 2025 ITIL 4 Foundations class takes place on August 7-8, 2025. ITIL 4 Foundations classes give attendees a practical understanding of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) at the foundation level, in preparation for the ITIL Foundation in Service Management exam.

No IT governance groups met in July. The Enterprise Web Advisory Council next meets on August 14; the Teaching and Learning Portfolio meets again on August 19; the Strategic Information Technology Committee gets back to business on September 9. and the Architecture and New Technology Committee reconvenes on September 22.

On June 18, 2025, about 40 UIT employees received a guided tour of the impressive operations inside the unassuming building that houses the University of Utah’s Downtown Data Center.

Besides go-karts, Boondocks’ Draper location, site of this year’s UIT Spring Party, gave UIT staff unlimited access to mini golf, bumper boats, a ropes course, bowling, laser tag, and XD Dark Ride.

Throughout spring, Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) organization events focused on experiences outside of the office.

The Strategic Information Technology Committee (SITC) will next meet on September 9; the Architecture and New Technology Committee (ANTC) will reconvene on July 28; the Enterprise Web Advisory Council (EWAC) will next gather on August 14; and the Teaching and Learning Portfolio (TLP) will meet on August 19.
