Kudos & Congratulations

UIT staff recognized for their excellent work

Congratulations to Thanh Nguyen (UIT Software Platform Services) and Judy Yeates (Office of the CIO) for winning the last prize drawing!

I would like to thank Heather Winters (UIT Voice Systems) for all her help with our phones over the last few months. My job in U Facilities Dispatch is customer service and answering inbound calls. It's a 24/7 phone line that requires a daily commitment of forwarding phones back and forth. It would be impossible to telecommute without Heather going the extra mile for us. You're amazing, Heather!

~ Jodi Smith, Facilities Management

Jeshua Pina from our Security Operations Center, thank you and kudos on ANOTHER impressive and exemplary performance.

Jeshua has impressed me many times, but I wanted to highlight one. We all talk about values and about people who do the right thing even when nobody's watching, but some people actually do it. Jeshua wound up in a normal support call, something that isn't really a SOC thing, a situation in which many would just to what was required. Jeshua didn't. Rather than looking for the first reason to pass it to someone else, he dug into the problem, went far past the extra mile, and tried everything at his disposal to resolve the issue. I really admire people who do that, people who really try to resolve rather than transfer.

Jeshua, thank you for your dedication and for the example you provide for the rest of us. Kudos on a great performance, and kudos to Jesse Adams and Colby Gray for doing whatever you did to encourage and support this kind of behavior!

Kudos and thank you to Matt Munro from University Campus Computer Support (UCCS) for his expertise, creativity, and willingness to help on a challenge provided recently. Matt proposed a great and remarkably easy fix to a potentially huge issue, something that slipped by a lot of other really bright engineers. Matt's been a star for UCCS for a long time, and for a lot of reasons, but this was a great reminder for me that we have some very smart, talented, helpful folks all over this community who will find a solution for nearly any problem we throw at them.

Thank you, Matt, and kudos for your excellence in skill and collaboration!

~ Chris Stucker, Information Security Office

This kudos is for Trevor Long, fearless leader of the ISO-GRC team, for going above and beyond to make working in the time of COVID as good an experience as possible. Trevor has taken time on a regular basis to talk with each team member individually to really understand our unique challenges in these strange times and find ways to help us stay engaged and happy at work. He also pays special attention to making sure our team dynamics stay strong and healthy and that we all stay connected despite the physical distance. I can't think of a better leader to get us through this!

~ Stacy Vincent, Information Security Office

I want to recognize Dalton Clift for his outstanding support and teamwork. He is one of the smartest and most organization-oriented thinkers I know.

While he does not work for my group as a student intern any longer, he helped my team resolve an issue that we were not able to in his spare time.

Dalton doesn't spend his efforts figuring out why things can't be done, he focuses on thinking at what is best for the organization and how to make it happen.

Thanks, Dalton, for your hard work, positive thinking, and willingness to help!

~ Dan Thornley, University Support Services

I want to send out a thank you to Melissa Ulfich from the UIT Finance department. I was the assistant for Alijana Kahriman (former administrative officer for UIT University Support Services) when she left toward the end of April, and a portion of her responsibilities were taken on by Melissa. A large part of these responsibilities included answering ALL of my finance questions (as well as some other non-finance ones) and assisting me with any other related issues. Thank you again, Melissa!

~ Zac Thayn, University Support Services
