Kudos & Congratulations
UIT staff recognized for their excellent work
Congratulations to Ray Lacanienta (University Support Services) and Dustin Udy (Information Security Office) for winning the last prize drawing!
My team and I would like to say a huge thank you to some USS people who have done
great things for us recently:
Mark Curtz for helping us with a CIS need, Marc Thompson for helping us with a CAS project, and Roger Kowallis for a flawless update of the Identity & Access Management website. All three were
extremely professional, made our interactions easy and quick, and got great results.
It was a pleasure to work with them, and we sincerely appreciate the work they did
and the way they did it. Kudos to these three and the USS team.
Thank you!
~ Chris Stucker, Information Security Office
I would like to give huge Kudos to Cassandra Van Buren and her team (Jesse Drake and Larrisa Turner). They have stepped up to every challenge the university has thrown at us [during
the COVID-19 pandemic and earthquake/aftershocks]. Cassandra and her team have been
asked to be on a number of committees and to accomplish things way outside the normal
scope of work we ask them to do. During the pandemic, I have to say that the entire
StratComm team has rocked!
Also a Kudos to Gary Carter, Jason Moeller, Dan Thornley, their USS teams, and Piotr Pawlikowski for their relentless pursuit in bringing the BU06 UUHP progress to an end.

The deliverable is May 30, and these folks and their teams are doing everything possible to make it happen. Thanks!
~ Ken Pink, Deputy CIO
Another thank you to the Strategic Communication team (Jesse Drake, Larrisa Turner, and Cassandra Van Buren) for their invaluable help in communicating recent requests to the university community.
Your expertise and guidance always improve the quality of our communication.
Thank you!
~ Chris Stucker, Information Security Office
A huge thank you to Judy Yeates, Robbie Eaby, and Melissa Ulfich! I had submitted a time card with multiple errors that wasn't noticed until (almost) the very last minute. These three were able to quickly help me fix the errors before payroll was submitted, and now the employee will be paid their full amount on time.
~ Jesse Adams, Information Security Office
Working from home amid the COVID-19 crisis:
I want to extend a kudos to Andrae Meyer for all the assistance he has provided to me and the entire Teaching & Learning Technologies department over the past month. He has made our transition from working in the office to home so much easier. There were moments I thought I might go crazy, however, Andrae not only talked me down, he solved each and every problem with kindness and patience. I definitely could not have made this transition (with my sanity intact) if not for Andrae Meyer. Thank you so much!
~ Cindy Hanson, Teaching & Learning Technologies
Neither rain, nor sleet, nor the coronavirus, nor earthquakes can keep David Young and Thomas Murray away from overseeing the DDC and EBC warehouses for all UIT communication needs.
Thank you for all you do!
~ Elaine Gallegos, UIT & UETN Finance
My team and I would like to thank Alexia Adair, Shellie Eide, Emily Jacoby, Roger Kowallis, and the Content Management & Usability student employees for all their hard work in the past year while we migrated, redesigned, and updated the UIT website. We put them to the test with all our requests, some of which required unique solutions. I'm so thankful to have such wonderful colleagues and 5th floor neighbors. Kudos, and we miss you!
~ Larrisa Turner, Strategic Communication
When I was appointed as the UIT Branch Director for the U's its COVID-19 Task Force in early March, I depended on a host of UIT employees and teams who answered the call to action with intelligence, speed, and grace. Everyone was working in very stressful circumstances, yet responded professionally to temporary, unexpected reporting relationships and working in new cross-functional teams.
Thanks to Barb Iannucci, Tracy McGee, Dave Packham, and Kim Tanner who provided information to guide our decision to use ServiceNow for COVID-19 online forms and workflows. Kim Fuller and Tracy McGee provided expert, tireless, and friendly ServiceNow consulting, development, and training for more than 50 people from across campus who were temporarily assigned to COVID-related teams. Laurent LeCointre was invaluable as he managed the COVID-19 Case Tracking tool development, customer relations, and release. Trevor Long stepped up to manage the COVID-19 Hotline Call Center, which was staffed with a mix of University Marketing and Communications and Human Resources employees on temporary reassignment. Haylee Lott, Doug Johnson, Samantha Lankford, and Syndi Haywood provided critical, just-in-time support to get the Hotline Call Center up and running. Thanks to Scott Lloyd, Cody Exon, and Jordan Jess for leading Help Desk support, every step of the way.
Most especially, thank you to Larrisa Turner and Jesse Drake, whose quick thinking, ability to change direction under pressure, and excellent collaboration skills enabled our team to flex and stretch to meet the U's unprecedented needs during recent weeks.
Thank you to you all — without your expertise and hard work, the U's ability to respond to the pandemic would not be going as smoothly as it has.
~ Cassandra Van Buren, Office of the CIO / Strategic Communication
