Proud 'weird duck' Thompson planted 10,000 pineapples in 8 hours

During his senior year at Layton High School, Marc Thompson and three classmates signed up for a character-building program in which young men were paid a small stipend in exchange for working the pineapple fields of Lānaʻi and Maui. A good day’s planting was 3,500 to 5,000 pineapples, but the boys were competitive.
