A UIT student employee summit took place August 18 at the Downtown Data Center. The purpose of the summit was to talk about the state of UIT's student program, discuss challenges, and gather feedback.

Before students settled into their seats on the first day of classes, cross-functional IT teams performed a range of activities like deploying IT changes, adding and supporting new tools for academics and research, and migrating services to cloud-hosted platforms.

The U has embarked on a project to explore new platforms used by prospective graduate students seeking admission to a master’s or doctoral degree program. A platform called Slate is expected to enter production by fall 2023.

The U’s Career & Professional Development Center recently recognized UIT as its 2022 Employer of the Year for the “exceptional support” shown by its student employment programs.

My Class Map enables enrolled students to access a list of their registered courses, pinpoint their locations, and get directions through the CIS portal or by logging in to the app with their university credentials. Students also can view other on-campus amenities.

More than a million audits in the Degree Audit Reporting System, or DARS, have been processed at the U since January 2021. It’s little wonder, then, that DARS was recently rolled into the U’s IT disaster recovery efforts.

The due diligence of UIT’s start-of-semester planning team paid off again as the U community entered fall semester without incident.

The one-stop digital tool, full of information curated directly by departments, supports undergraduate students in “identifying, planning, navigating, and summarizing their educational experience.”
